DOTA Lina Inverse (Slayer) guide

Lina Inverse (The Slayer)

Lina Inverse is a powerful sorceress who is famous for killing bandits (to take their loot) and slaying dragons (accidentally destroying the occasional city in the process). She is quite adept at shooting fireballs at her enemies, and has also mastered more powerful spells like the Dragon Slave and the Laguna Blade. Concerned primarily with acquiring gold and powerful weapons, Lina fights for the Sentinel in exchange for a huge promised reward should she help destroy the Frozen Throne.

BASIC STATS

      Damage: 37 - 55

      Range: 600
      Hit Points (HP): 492

      Mana: 247
      Speed: 290

      Armor: 1.2

ATTRIBUTES
  1. Strength: 18 (+ 1.5/level; each point increases HP by 19 and HP regeneration);
  2. Agility: 16 (+ 1.5/level; every 7 pts. increase Armor by 1; each point increases DotA Slayer attack speed by 1%);
  3. Intelligence: 19 (+ 3.2/level; primary Attribute; each point increases mana by 13, mana regeneration and damage by 1).
PROS, CONS and SPELLS
  1.  Lina has a good Intelligence growth compared with other heroes, a long range and she's strong during early-mid game. A decent support Hero with spells which damage, stun and terminate single enemy targets.
  2. As cons.,  Lina has a slow Strength and Agility growth, she is easy to kill early game, the spells deplete her mana fast and has a hard way to aim a stun.

Dragon Slave
Dragon Slave (D)
A wave of fire that ripples out from Lina Inverse, causing damage to land units in a line.
Level 1 – 100 damage.
Level 2 – 170 damage.
Level 3 – 230 damage.
Level 4 – 280 damage.
Mana Cost: 90/ 105/ 125/ 140
Cooldown: 8.5 seconds
Comment: Good aoe nuke, easy to harass with, goes farther than where you target, fast cooldown

Together with Light Strike Array can be used to farm creep waves with ease and to chip away your enemy's HP from a safe distance.

TIP: When casting Dragon Slave, take into consideration that the spell does further damage in spite of the graphics. Therefore, simply clicking on an enemy Hero while aiming Dragon Slave isn't the most efficient way of using this spell, that way is only used when your enemy is leaping, blinking, or has a fast movement speed so that you can surely aim you enemy's changing position.

Light Strike Array
Light Strike Array (T)
Summons a column of flames that damages and stuns enemies for 1.6 seconds.
Level 1 – Deals 90 damage.
Level 2 – Deals 150 damage.
Level 3 – Deals 210 damage.
Level 4 – Deals 280 damage.
Mana Cost: 90/ 100/ 110/ 125
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Comment: Good aoe nuke with a STUN, there is a time delay between casting it and the effect, fast cooldown, can kill trees.

Together with Dragon Slave can be used to farm creep waves with ease. Can also stun multiple enemies. Hard to use by novices playing with Lina. Piece of advice: If your enemy is moving, predict where he will be after a second and cast your spell there.

Fiery Soul
Fiery Soul (F)
Grants you bonus attack and movement speed each time you cast a spell. Stacks with itself. Lasts 7 seconds.
Level 1 – 20% IAS, 2% MS
Level 2 – 30% IAS, 3% MS
Level 3 – 40% IAS, 4% MS
Level 4 – 50% IAS, 5% MS
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Comment: Increased attack speed, helpful only late game when you have the damage and mana to spare

Laguna Blade
Laguna Blade (G)
Fires of bolt of lightning at a single target, dealing critical damage.
Level 1 – Deals 450 damage.
Level 2 – Deals 675 damage.
Level 3 – Deals 950 damage.
Mana Cost: 280/ 420/ 680
Cooldown: 150/ 95/ 55 seconds
Comment: Most powerful targeted nuke in the entire game, finishing move, powerful even into late game, fast cooldown for an ulti LINA Inverse.

This skill is the STRONGEST SINGLE TARGET NUKE in the game, only competed by Finger of Death. The true essence of Slayer, Laguna Blade is what makes you a great killer early to mid game, because you can 'terminate' enemy heroes even if they still have a big amount of HP left.

Item Build

This is my item build for Lina. Well it always depend on the situation. You should try to consider your enemy's skill or type. This is my usual item build for Lina:

Early game

If the game is 5 vs. 5 you should go for...

2 Mantle of Intelligence
1 Circlet of Nobility
1 Ancient Tango of Essification

MID GAME

You should already bought this items:

Power threads (Int)

preserverance

ultimate orb

Ghost Scepter (effective to prevent enemy heroes attack you specially AGI heroes)

Staff of Wizardy

Ogre Axe

LATE GAME

You should already have:

Power threads (Int)
Its up to you what boots you should use. Again, it always depends upon your foes and strategies.

Linken's Sphere
Used to dispell stuns and conjuring spells but not all spells can be dispelled like shockwaves and passive skills.

Ethereal Blade
I used this a lot of times and it's effective for a combo; Ethereal Blast, Light Strike Array, Laguna Blade and Dragon Slave. Ethereal Blast damages your opponent by your agility
and it also enhances your skills' damage by 40%.

Aghanim's Scepter
Used to improve your ultimate (Laguna Blade).

This is just my incomplete build for Lina. It's up to you what you should add or change.
It depends how you play her. It's the greatest build for all heroes. n_n
